LESSONS AND HOMESCHOOL CLASSES

Screaming Eagle Archery is dedicated to helping people practice and expand their archery skills. From beginners to advanced, we have a variety of lessons taught by Judy from BearPaw Instruction.

Our innovative approach to instruction allows us to appeal to students of all ages and provides the motivation they need to succeed in this competitive sport.

Archery is a unique sport that can be enjoyed by virtually anyone regardless of age, gender, size, physical ability or previous experience. In the very first class, participants will be taught safety, form, range etiquette and how to successfully hit the target.

Archery instills confidence, greater attention spans, and a willingness to try other sports activities.

OUR INSTRUCTOR

Hi, I'm Judy Vanderwilt, owner of and instructor for BearPaw Archery Instructions. I am an independent, certified, archery coach working with Screaming Eagle Archery of Alaska to bring archery to all who are interested in beginning archery or just want to take their game to next level.

I have been in archery and instructing for more than 10 years. I teach at Screaming Eagle Archery, Twindly Bridge Charter School and also travel to various communities to instruct at community centers, church camps, independent homeschool groups and schools. I am also a volunteer instructor for Fish and Game's Bowhunter Education certification course. I offer a variety of different classes from beginning archery to advanced archery, introduction to bow hunting, and competitive archery.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Private lessons can be scheduled in one hour increments. Lessons are $40.00 per session for the first person. You can add on a second person to your lesson for $20 and any additional people for $15.

We provide all the equipment or you can bring your own.

BEGINNING CLASSES

Beginning classes are great for anyone ages 6 - 100 years of age wanting to get an in-depth understanding of the basic steps of archery. All equipment is provided for the class.

The Beginning classes focus on:

  • Safety: range safety, bow safety, and arrow safety.
  • Proper shooting technique: form, grouping, consistency and personal discipline.
  • Archery Equipment: familiarity with the parts and uses of archery equipment as well as how to take care of it.

All beginning classes will be taught on the Genesis bow. We have both right hand and left hand bows.

These classes will set you up to pursue your passion for archery with further classes or on your own.

ADVANCED CLASSES

Advanced classes are limited to 12 students per class to allow for optimum time with each student.  This class will go over the basic skills learned in the beginning class and will expand to learning how to use the accessories that are currently on your bow.

You will also learn advanced skills to help you as you expand your archery experience to shooting at the range on your own, exploring competition archery and bow hunting.

Advanced classes are perfect for anyone who has completed the beginning class or has been shooting awhile and would like to brush up on existing skills.

This class is definitely for those who have their own bows but we will provide equipment for those who have not yet purchased a bow.
